Fr. Albert Tan, SJ
Fr. Albert Tan SJ is a Jesuit who studied in the Philippines and Canada en-route to his ordination as priest in 2005. Upon completion of his Theology studies, he was assigned to St. Francis Xavier Church, PJ, initially as Assistant Parish Priest and later as Parish Priest until 2015. Subsequently he left for Australia to pursue a Masters degree in Spiritual Direction. Thereafter in 2018, Fr Albert was assigned to the Philippines as Socius to the Novice Master of the Malaysia-Singapore Region, Formator of the Sacred Heart Novitiate, and Spiritual Director of the Sacred Heart Retreat House. He returned to Malaysia in November 2021 to take up his new appointment as Director of Maranatha House of Prayer. Fr Albert has been involved in retreat-giving on a part-time basis since 2006. From 2019 to 2021, he assumed full-time ministry and finds retreat-giving and spiritual direction to be a very life-giving and humbling ministry. As such, Fr Albert is looking forward to his assignment in Maranatha House of Prayer.
Fr. Michael Hansen SJ
Fr. Michael Hansen SJ is a Jesuit of the Australian Province. He is the National Director of the First Spiritual Exercises ministry (FSE), a retreat director, speaker, spiritual formator and writer. His book the First Spiritual Exercises was a winner of the Best Christian Spirituality Book in USA 2016. In response to the great needs of people during the Covid pandemic, especially during shutdown times, Michael has created a ‘Spiritual Field Hospital’, as envisioned by Pope Frances, of 80 spiritual exercises, and training for them. They have been used in 25 countries to great effect. This includes training in Malaysia and Singapore. In fact Michael has been a regular and grateful retreat giver and trainer at the Maranatha for many years.
Fr. Alvin Ng Sze Syn, SJ
Fr. Alvin Ng Sze Syn, SJ is a Malaysian Jesuit based in Kuching, Sarawak where he heads the local Jesuit community while being engaged with the Ministry to the migrants of the Archdiocese of Kuching as well as with Caritas Malaysia. He taught History and Bible Studies to secondary school students and continues to pursue an interest in Jewish cultural landscape of the Bible.
Fr. Christopher Soh, SJ
Fr. Christopher Soh, SJ is a Singapore Jesuit priest. Since November 2016, Fr. Christopher Soh has been serving as the superior of the Malaysia-Singapore Region of the Society of Jesus. Previously, he has held appointments as parish priest of St Ignatius Church, and director of Kingsmead Centre for Ignatian Spirituality and Counselling in Singapore. He received his formal training in Ignatian spirituality and retreat direction at Loyola House, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
Fr. Christopher Wee, SJ
Fr. Christopher Wee, SJ is a Malaysian Jesuit priest, based in Petaling Jaya. Fr. Christopher is now the local superior of the Jesuit Community at Xavier Hall, PJ. He was the Director of MARANATHA House of Prayer from 2013 to 2021. He was formerly campus minister for 8 years, and Assistant parish priest of St John’s Cathedral in Kuala Lumpur for 4 years.
Fr. Geoffrey (Monty) Williams, SJ
Fr. Geoffrey (Monty) Williams, SJ is a Canadian Jesuit , born in Guyana South America, is an internationally acclaimed retreat leader and spiritual director in Ignatian spirituality. He teaches on spirituality and contemporary cultural analysis at Regis College at the University of Toronto and has written several books among them: The Gift of Spiritual Intimacy (2009), Stepping Into Mystery (2012), and The Way of the Faithful (2017). He is presently working on a new book, Emptiness: The Hospitality of God.
Bro Gerard Choo, SJ
Bro Gerard Choo, SJ is a Jesuit Brother who has many years of experience in spiritual direction and giving retreats. He has an MA in pastoral ministry, is a qualified family counsellor and a registered Pharmacist. Bro Gerard gives retreats to parish and special interest groups. He attends to Jesuit administrative duties.
Fr. Peter McIsaac, SJ
Fr. Peter McIsaac, SJ entered the Jesuits in Canada in 1989, but has lived most of his Jesuit life in the Caribbean, after his theological studies in Kenya. Over the years, he has been a pastor, taught theology, and worked as a school administrator. He has more recently dedicated his ministry to retreat and ongoing spiritual direction, as well as engages programmes in lay and priestly formation. Since 2014 he has offered retreats and workshops in Southeast Asia, and enjoys encountering new cultures. In July 2020, he was appointed the Regional Superior of Guyana and Jamaica, but continues his work with the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
Cecilia Chai retired from her full time academic career at a private university college. She is a licensed counsellor with the Malaysian Board of Counsellors. She has a PhD in Counselling & Guidance, spends most of her time journeying with young adults. She completed the MARANATHA 3-year Spiritual Companion programme in 2011. Since 2016, she has been a spiritual companion at MARANATHA House of Prayer.
Kay Cheah-Lim received her training in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius at Maranatha 3-Year Spiritual Companion program (2009-2011); Manresa Spain, the cradle of Ignatian Spirituality (2013) and completed retreat giving course in The Centre of Ignatian Spirituality in the Philippines in 2016. Since then she has been a Prayer Companion at Maranatha Retreat House. She was a counsellor and is presently a Spiritual Director at her church and involved in its international group ministry.
Lilian Koh has been trained in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius, completing the Maranatha 3 year program in 2011. She also has a certificate in spiritual direction from Spiritual Growth Ministries, and a Masters in Christian Studies. Lilian is retired from the medical profession. She gives retreats and serves as a spiritual director and counsellor at her church.
Fr Moses Kan, SJ
Fr Moses Kan, SJ is the director of Kuangchi Cultural Group in Taiwan. He teaches Ignatian Spirituality and has given directed retreats and workshops in Taiwan, many countries in Asia and the USA for the Chinese communities.
Celina is a spiritual director with formal training in Ignatian Spirituality, Spiritual Direction and giver of the full Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola. She received her training from LDT Singapore and the Melbourne University of Divinity (Sentir). Since 2001, she has been volunteering her time at Kingsmead Centre, accompanying people in individual and group spiritual direction, facilitating Ignatian retreats, the full Spiritual Exercises and various talks. Currently, she is also the Director of Kingsmead Centre and the Delegate for Ignatian Spirituality for the Malaysia-Singapore Region. A member of Spiritual Directors International (SDI) and Jesuit Conference of Asia-Pacific (JCAP).
